ARLINGTON, Va Stephanie Dunn DeSimone took daughter Allie to the Pentagon Memorial on Thursday to be with "Daddy in heaven."
Earlier, the 6-year-old had picked out Navy Cmdr. Patrick Dunn's name among 184 names on an entry stone. She helped her mother and her adopted "Daddy on Earth," Navy Capt. Paul DeSimone, make a name rubbing from the stainless steel bench that honors her deceased father. She ran her fingers through the pool of water beneath the cantilevered bench.

President Bush, for his last time in office, observed a moment of silence at the White House at 8:46 a.m. ET the moment when terrorists crashed the first hijacked airliner into New York's World Trade Center. He later visited the Pentagon, helping dedicate the first of the three permanent Sept. 11 memorials.
The site where American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11 opened to the public Thursday evening and will be accessible 24 hours, seven days a week.
"Seven years ago at this hour, a doomed airliner plunged from the sky, split the rock and steel of this building and changed our world forever," Bush told 15,000 family members, Pentagon workers and guests. Thanks to troops fighting abroad, "and all those who work to keep us safe, there has not been another attack on our soil in 2,557 days," Bush said.
