Where were the Bible-believing Christians ?
Less than 10 Christian men and women showed up on the streets of Columbia at the beginning, end, and along the route of the"Celebration of Sodomy" parade to witness, pray, hand out literature, hold signs, or in the case of two of the men, preach at thiswicked public event, which had been welcomed by Columbia Mayor Bob Coble and all six City Council members, and which hadbeen funded by City Council with $10,000 of taxpayers' Hospitality Tax money, most of which was to be used to pay for Drag Queen"entertainer" RuPaul. After parading through the streets of downtown Columbia (Laurel / Main / Gervais / Gadsden), the sodomites, lesbians and their friends gathered in large numbers inside Finlay Park (behind the Main Post Office along Taylor Street).
With a Columbia metro population of over 700,000 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Columbia,_South_Carolina), and a presence of approx.600 places of religion that would probably consider themselves "Christian" in the City of Columbia (and perhaps 1,000 in the wider Columbia metro area?), the low turn-out of an on-site, Christian street presence in opposition to the Sodomites' public celebration of wickedness is yet another example of how weak, feminized, and worldly the Christian church apparently is in the Columbia, SC area (not unlike much of the rest of the U.S.A.), and how A.W.O.L the church leadership (pastors, elders, deacons) is, in leading their churches in Christian ministry, and as a prophetic witness for the Lord and against sin, "in the public marketplace," despite the fact that the Saviour, spent a great deal of time ministering on the streets according to the historical record in the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Christians need to come out from their buildings more, and bring their witness for the Messiah to public square, including the streets !
By contrast, the Saturday afternoon and evening football game activities in and around Columbia's USC Williams-Brice Stadium on the same day drew literally tens of thousands of paying enthusiastic fans ('fanatics'), to celebrate that Fall season weekly idolatrous event.
If a people (especially the Christian MEN) will not demonstrate a passion to stand for righteousness, and against wickedness in our land, then the question needs to be asked if we deserve, and can long preserve, a free, secure and prosperous nation. This past week's news headlines give an answer ! Think of all the time, money, effort, and passion that goes into USC football, and contrast that with the paltry involvement of Christians in standing publicly as a witness for their professed Lord and Saviour, the Messiah, for Him, and against evil, on this and many other moral issues !
Thank the Lord there are some pastors, churches, ministries, and Christian individuals who do understand the Biblical teaching to witness publicly !
