Connecticut passed a civil union law in 2005. However, many sodomites and lesbians want the affirmation that their abominable perversion and sexual immorality is accepted, something it will never be in the Court of Heaven (e.g., Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:26, 27; 1 Cor. 6:9,10). These sinners want what they can never have: God's approval of their sin and wickedness. The Saviour shed His precious Blood on the Cross to save sinners from their sin, not affirm them in their sin ! The Messiah came to set the captives free from our sin, not to re-define sin as "good."

On October 10, 2008, the Connecticut State Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that sodomites and lesbians had the "right" to be "married," ruling unconstitutional "a civil union law designed to give them the same rights as married couples." This shows how successful sodomites and lesbians have been in casting their perverted behavior as a "civil rights" issue, instead of their choice to commit immoral ACTIONS by their BEHAVIOR. The decision to commit fornication, adultery, sodomy, or lesbian ACTS, is a CHOICE. It CAN be changed; and many, many, many people have CHANGED. Committing the ACTIONS of sodomy or lesbian BEHAVIOR is NOT unchangeable, as is being Black, Female, Asian, Latino, etc., etc.
Now two NE states, Connecticut and Massachusetts (2003), have "legalized" sodomite and lesbian coupling as "marriage." HOWEVER, EIGHT OTHER STATES (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii) PLUS WASHINGTON D.C., have also legitimized sodomite couplings by either "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships."

The 4-3 ruling will make Connecticut the third state, behind Massachusetts and California, to allow same-sex marriages, decisions that in all cases were made by the highest state court. The decision marks the first time that a court rejected civil unions as an alternative to granting gay couples the right to marry.
In the majority opinion, Supreme Court Justice Richard N. Palmer wrote that denying marriage to same-sex couples would create separate standards.
"Interpreting our state constitutional provisions in accordance with firmly established equal protection principles leads inevitably to the conclusion that gay persons are entitled to marry the otherwise qualified same sex partner of their choice," Palmer wrote.
Getting a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage on Connecticut's ballot would require the approval of three-quarters of the General Assembly a highly unlikely prospect, with both houses controlled by Democrats sympathetic to same-sex marriage.
"The vast majority of states do not allow gay marriage. Voters in 27 [now 30, with the addition of constitutional amendment bans on sodomite and lesbian "marriage" just passed on Nov. 4 in Arizona, California, and Florida] states have taken the extra step of approving constitutional amendments to reinforce that prohibition."

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) The New Haven city clerk's office issued its first gay marriage license just minutes after a new state law allowing the unions went into effect.
The license went to Barbara and Robin Levine-Ritterman of New Haven, who were one of the eight couples who successfully challenged a state law prohibiting gay marriage.

That legal challenge led to the state Supreme Court's historic ruling Oct. 10 that same-sex couples have the right to wed rather than accept a civil union law designed to give them the same rights as married couples.
City and town clerks began issuing gay marriage licenses immediately after a New Haven Superior Court judge issued the final ruling in the case Wednesday morning.
Connecticut is now the second state, after Massachusetts, to allow same-sex marriages.

It's unclear how many couples will wed. According to the state public health department, there have been 2,032 civil union licenses issued in Connecticut between Oct. 2005 and July 2008.
"Today is historic legally and culturally and socially," said Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who attended the hearing. "My office vigorously defended state law, including the civil unions statute, but we have to put aside our past positions and personal opinions to make sure the law is vigorously enforced and defended and the court's decision is implemented as smoothly as possible."

"There's always that worry in the back of our head," Peg Oliveira said about the possibility of someday losing her marriage rights. "I don't see it going in that direction right now."
Oliveira, a 36-year-old yoga teacher and educational consultant, plans to marry Jennifer Vickery, a 44-year-old lawyer, on the New Haven green on Wednesday. Oliveira said marriage will make clear her spouse's rights to raise their 3-month-old baby if something should happen to her.
"We're thrilled and we don't want to wait one minute," she said. "I want to show the folks who worked so hard to make this possible that we are very grateful and we don't want to wait any longer to be able to say the words 'We are married."'
Oliveira and Vickery did not enter into a civil union, believing the arrangement would have signaled to lawmakers that they had done enough.

Connecticut state Rep. Beth Bye and her partner Tracey Wilson hope to make history on Wednesday by becoming the first gay couple to marry in their town of West Hartford.
For Wilson, it's not just a personal milestone, but a professional one as well. She's the town's historian.
"She'd love to be the first one in town," joked Bye, who spent hours as a lawmaker listening to testimony on the marriage issue in 2007. She was a member of the Judiciary Committee which approved a bill that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed.
In 2005, Bye and Wilson had a big "wedding" ceremony at their church, before more than 150 guests, when they got a civil union. On Wednesday, they plan to show up at town hall with their kids, dressed in street clothes, and have a friend who is a local state senator and justice of the peace make it all official.
"I think for us, we really were married three years ago in our church," Bye said. "But it feels different that our state is saying, 'now you're married. You have the same rights as everyone else."'
The Family Institute of Connecticut, a political action group that opposes gay marriage, still hopes to overturn the gay marriage law.
"Unlike California, we did not have a remedy," executive director Peter Wolfgang said. "It must be overturned with patience, determination and fortitude."
The state's 2005 civil union law will remain on the books, at least for now. Same-sex couples can continue to enter civil unions, which give them the same legal rights and privileges in Connecticut as married couples without the status of being married.
